The guest host for today's show is Brad Bannon. Brad runs Bannon Communications Research, a polling, message development and media firm which helps labor unions, progressive issue groups and Democratic candidates win public affairs and political campaigns. His show, 'Deadline D.C. with Brad Bannon,' airs every Monday from 3-4pm ET.

Brad is first joined by Edwith Theogene, the senior director of racial equity and justice at American Progress.

The two discuss:

- The racial wealth gap as it pertains to inequities in the historic job growth we’re seeing between the types and numbers of jobs available to white workers vs. Black, Latino, etc. workers
- The upcoming midterms and the blatant white supremacist/adjacent extremism we’re seeing from some MAGA candidates
- Guns as the true drivers of violent crime and the disproportionate impacts of gun violence on communities of color

In her role at CAP, Theogene leads American Progress’ efforts to develop, communicate, and implement policy ideas that provide a new way forward for a range of equity challenges in an increasingly diverse America, with a particular focus on race and equity.

During the second half of the show, Brad is joined by Colonel Cedric Leighton, Founder and President of Cedric Leighton Associates, a strategic risk and leadership consultancy serving global companies and organizations.
He founded the company in 2010, after serving in the US Air Force for 26 years as an Intelligence Officer and attaining the rank of Colonel.

The Colonel explains the significance of the U.S. drone strike that killed Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Al Qaeda's 9/11 mastermind, in Afghanistan.

Colonel Leighton also analyzes Speaker Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, and China's reaction. Finally, he discusses the 'PACT Act,' which is short for honoring our 'Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics' bill. The newly passed legislation will fund research and benefits for as many as 3.5 million veterans who were exposed to toxic substances during service.

Colonel Leighton can also be seen regularly on CNN, where he is a Military Analyst.
His Twitter handle is @CedricLeighton, and his website is CedricLeighton.com.

Brad writes a political column every Sunday for 'The Hill.' He's on the National Journal's panel of political insiders and is a national political analyst for WGN TV and Radio in Chicago and KNX Radio in Los Angeles.
