Unpopular opinion (according to the people commenting on one of my earlier tweets): you can be an ally to LGBTQ2+ people, a supporter of truth & reconciliation, want to protect our environment, believe in science, want to protect human rights AND be a conservative.

This Tweet caused an interesting conversation of the Christmas Holiday Break.

It included these two.

So you’re not a #CON? BS, that’s literally everything they’ve demonstrably stood against. CONs have demonized anyone standing up for LGBTQ, First Nations, environment, scientists or anyone pursuing higher ed, & those escaping the horrors brought to them by western nations.

agree with that only depending on if the particular conservative party is doing those things that you value. What's more important - that a party have the title conservative in it or live out your conservativ values. Sometimes those things clash.

As we head into 2019, we are going to see an interesting conversation on where the conservative movement is. With the Federal and an Alberta Election coming up this year. The questions on the motivations of Doug Ford, Jason Kenney, and Andrew Scheer will continue to be challenged.

So where is the conservative movement heading into 2019? Where is the line between misconceptions and accurate perception?

Joining us today to unpack that is Natasha Kornak.

Natasha is working to redefine our current state of political discourse from one that is rooted in groupthink, identity politics, and personal attacks to one that is thoughtful, respectful, and honest. It’s her goal to enlighten young people about the importance of being engaged in political decisions and to think for themselves.
She also seek to empower other women by working against sexual and gender-based violence in addition to encouraging more women to run for public office.
