"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:13-14)
Did you know that you used to be in the domain of darkness? It sounds harsh, but Scripture says we were born as enemies of God. Children of wrath by our nature living in darkness. Because our hearts were selfishly turned inward, there was no way we could find our way to God in the darkness. But God knew our need and his heart was set on rescue. He sent His Son Jesus to pay our enormous sin debt. He forgave us, redeemed us, and granted us a new heart that was turned toward Him. God crossed enemy lines to adopt His enemies into His eternal kingdom family. What a good father! He's where the joy is!
