“I’m in no hurry to exit this world. I love this world, I love life, I love people, I love community, I love humanity, I love conversations, I love sex, I love all the things that make life good. I love a good cigar, I love to have my bourbon, I love a good meal, I love seeing a sunset at the ocean.” - Dave Warnock on Humanize Me

Dave Warnock is a former pastor turned humanist who earlier this year was diagnosed with ALS. In response to his diagnosis, a community of secular people rallied around Dave, and they believe his story and attitude is an inspiration. We agree!

In this conversation with Bart Campolo, Dave talks about his life in the evangelical subculture, his deconversion from faith at 55 years old, the end of his marriage, discovering himself independently for the first time, finding a new community, getting a terminal diagnosis, death with dignity and the 'final exit', and how his illness has focused his mind on what's truly important.

A website about Dave can be found at EveryonesAgnostic.com/Dave.html (and check out the rest of the Everyone's Agnostic site too!).

On Patreon this week: The final of 8 sessions of long-form conversation between Bart and his famous evangelical father, Tony Campolo, recorded for the film Leaving My Father’s Faith (available on Amazon). Get the new session at Patreon.com/HumanizeMe. And while you're at it, check out the rest of our Patreon page! It's had a revamp and now includes the first episode of 'Why It Matters', where you can hear about how this podcast makes a difference in peoples' lives and listen to some insider info and discussion.

Also this week: Bart was speaking at Eastlake Church on Sunday on the topic 'Character Matters' and you can watch it all at Vimeo.com/337379892.
