How, when, and should you tell your kids that a family member is an abuser? This question gets asked A LOT. I recently wrote a blog post called "It’s been 10 years since reporting my dad and the reality of losing so much is hitting hard": https://jimmyhinton.org/its-been-10-years-since-reporting-my-dad-and-the-reality-of-losing-so-much-is-hitting-hard/

There was an outpouring of emails after I wrote that from people wanting to know how to talk to their children about a family member who is an abuser. Because every family and individual is different, and because every abuse situation is so different, there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. BUT I'm willing to share some tips for people based on my approach with telling my children about their grandfather who is in prison for the rest of his life.

These are sensitive conversations and your approach to addressing it is deeply personal. In this episode we help guide you through these tough conversations with your kids.
