Did Jesus give power to humans (or at least the Disciples) to create laws that not only have authority on earth but in Heaven as well? It would appear so:
"Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."
"Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them [l]by My Father who is in Heaven." -Matthew 18:18-19 [NASB]
But how could this be given the number of incompatible doctrines and interpretations through Christendom? Who has the "authority" spoken of in these passages? Didn't Jesus Chastize the Pharisees for their teachings? How do we know ours are any better? By what standards do we measure our teachings?
I have been pondering this for the last few weeks and have found an answer. After all, with Eternity in the balance, I think it is MIGHTLY essential to know what we believe, why, and follow it?

Thank you for your comment, Enid. I tend to be attracted to those verses that others have avoided in studies, books, sermons, etc. Or when the explanations seem to be weak or contradictive. Pondering and looking for things to pop up for my noticing tend to be a link to lead to understanding. Many do/will not like some of my perspectives because they clash with corporate doctrines; but, I seek to know God and his ways and trust my honest desire for understanding within my ability to understand is honored by God, and He will show me what I seek/need to know if I follow His lead. I am simply sharing as best I can as possibly my seeking may be used as a point of information for others who also seek. This last sentence is why I can share what I find as I do not have faith in me, but He who inspires me in my learning, and I have faith I will find correction when needed. Whoever seeks, knocks finds.
I usually think of mammon as "gross consciousness" as in the Hare Krishna Society terminology. I used the term "gross consciousness" a lot in the 1970's Eastern religion invasion of the West Coast. Recently, self identified Christian said "Mammon! I don'e even know what that means!", when I used the word in conversation. People don't go to the place you talking about here. I am enjoying this study.
