"It's eleven tracks with a traditional Hardcore Superstar sound and a lot of party vibe to it," enthused vocalist Joakim Berg ahead of their yet to be released new album You Can't Kill My Rock 'n Roll. " The last album was more diverse sounding compared to the other albums we released. Now we are back to the traditional Hardcore Superstar sound and I think the fans will love this album. With the last album, 50% of the people were saying what the fuck are they doing now and 50% were like okay, it's good, but it's not Hardcore Superstar. We had to get that album out of our systems but now we're back and on track!"
Hardcore Superstar have dominated the sleaze metal scene, particularly in their home country of Sweden, since 1997 and as Berg admits they always had only one goal on their mind.
"World domination," he shrugged. "Of course every band that starts wants to become rock stars and have world domination or whatever but through the years you realize that it's not that easy to do that (laughs). You have to think about other things that make you happy like writing songs and the love for music. That's an important thing for young bands that start out today to practice on your instruments and write a lot of songs and not think that much about the image because the image is, of course, good to have but the first thing is the music. The music comes first, the image comes second."
Heavy had a great chat with Joakim while he was in the middle of making dinner for his kids. To hear the full piece, including news on next months Hardcore Superstar tour, what has changed with the band since they were here last ten years ago, Hardcore Superstar's guide to having fun with music and their role in bringing back sleaze and dirtiness to rock and roll plus more, tune in to the attached audio.

June 14 - Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
