With the recent release of their 8th studio album North Star, Viking Metal pioneers Einherjer have solidified their growing reputation as the leaders of the Norse Metal revival.


The album marks the band’s return to Napalm Records after a quarter of a century, with Einherjer’s debut album for the label Dragons Of The North also being remastered and re-issued.


Founding member Frode Glesnes joined HEAVY for a chat about the album earlier this week.


“We didn’t have anything on paper,” he measured when asked about the band's goals with North Star. “It was just the same as every album really. We always want to make a better album than the previous one (laughs), so that was the overall goal always. I think we achieved that. I think it's a good thing with a band when you are finished with an album, of course, you have it in your blood, but you should be proud about the work you have done and you should feel this is the absolute best you've done in your career and it does feel like that. Considering that we've done this for almost 30 years now I think that maybe...(laughs)...some part of me thinks that maybe we should be shit by now because many bands are who have been doing this for so long but I actually feel like we are on the top of our game. I'm very pleased with the album and how everything turned out.”
