With their latest E.P Paradeigma, Western Australian progressive metal outfit Agnesis have raised an already high bar with a collection of songs that while staying true to their prog roots also encapsulates a heavier, darker side to the band."I used to listen to a lot of heavier stuff when I was younger", explained vocalist/guitarist Daniel Christofferson, and it's hard for that not to creep through a bit while writing. There's a few on the heavier side of things to showcase our band plus a bit of the other stuff as well to make it more diverse".For those who have only heard the E.P's single 'Ransack', Christofferson says that although that is a fair introduction to the band, the E.P contains more surprises than featured on that one track."That song does show off a fair bit of the sound", he measured. "It's obviously one of our heavier tracks but it probably doesn't represent us in terms of our more mellow stuff and our super proggy stuff but it is a pretty good example, especially of our vocal styles and the way we use harmonies and that kind of stuff".In the full interview, Daniel discusses the early response to Paradeigma, it's lyrical content, the epic track 'Swamp', what dictates the length of songs, the acoustic ending to the E.P, the importance of putting new music out more regularly in the modern music climate, upcoming shows and more.
