In this episode we talk about housing for your chickens. The first things we go over are the main questions you want to ask yourself before getting chickens. Such as how many birds? Which breeds? What kind of resources you have? What kind of room you have? What are the available materials? And do you have adequate forage for your birds?
We also go over what makes a good chicken coop good. We talk about nesting boxes roosts and runs.
Coops need to be clean, dry, ventilated, and easy to clean.

They can also be heated and lighted. You should have 3 ft.² of coop space per bird.
Runs need to be sturdy, tall enough to work in, and provide protection from all predators. We also talk about what is a panic what is rotational grazing and where we rotate our chickens.
Roosts need to have 8 to 12 inches of space per bird. Materials can be anything from 2 x 4 boards to sticks or pallets.
nesting boxes need to be dry, warm, cozy, cleanable, and accessible.
