Overlander Ray Hyland - Overlanding London to Singapore

Imagine finding a 1954 Land Rover, left as an antique in someones field, having not run in 20 years, then buying it for $300 and telling your wife and children you just found the perfect overland rig. Followed by; let’s drive it from London to Singapore as a 16,000 mile, 12 country family road trip.

Have you ever met Ray Hyland? We met Ray at the NW Overland Rally as he stopped to welcome us to the rally with a warm smile and several amazing stories. Ray runs several overland rallies, one being the NW Overland Rally, along with BC Overland Rally and a new rally coming to Colorado!

Ray has been overlanding from what we concluded, his entire life. He’s been taking his family along for the adventure since about 2004. In 2015 he and his wife Marianne, along with their 3 children climbed into their patched up 1954 Land Rover Series 1 Station Wagon; Shipped it to London and drove it to Singapore to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first London to Singapore overland journey. Words escape us for the sense of adventure Ray has, and probably why he has so many amazing and entertaining stories that leave you with that deer in the headlights look.
