A man from Hillsborough, Florida, who told police he had shot and killed his wife now faces charges of first-degree murder.

Enrique Toledo, 53, allegedly shot and killed his wife, who was not named by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in its press release, on July 3.

The shooting happened at approximately 9.30 p.m. in Toledo's home on the 2600 block of Freeland Drive in Valrico.

Authorities said that after receiving the call from Toledo, they went to his home. Upon arriving at the scene they detained him and discovered a woman lying in a pool of blood in the master bedroom.

According to a criminal report affidavit, seen by the Tampa Bay Times, the wife was shot while the pair's three children were at home.

One is a legal adult, another is a 15-year-old and the third is 8 years old. The eldest daughter told deputies that she entered her parent's room before she saw Toledo allegedly point a handgun at her mom and fire twice.

Toledo and his wife had already discussed divorce an estimated three weeks before the shooting incident, according to the report.
