Deeper Than Music interviews collective Black S.T.E.A.M.

About Black S.T.E.A.M.:
BLACK S.T.E.A.M. is a media-based education platform that bridges the gap between education and culture through music. Dr. Eye & Ms. Education are breaking down the common stereotype that education music is 'corny.' Dr. Eye is a science specialist and an actual doctor in the field of education. Ms. Education is a singer/songwriter and has a strong love for humanity. Together, they create music that caters to academics in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Dr. Eye & Ms. Education's first academic resource song, The Water Cycle, has a smooth R&B/ HipHop sound, unlike most educational children’s music. As a common reaction to their song, many people find it hard to believe that they are teaching about the cycle of water and the phases it goes through while maintaining a strong reference to national and state standards. BLACK S.T.E.A.M. recently expanded its audience to toddlers with 'Left Right,' a musical resource that the whole family can dance to. 'Left Right' is accompanied by a kid-friendly visual aid to help understand the difference between the left side and right side.
