Travis Nardi is attending college under the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and has served as an enlisted crew chief on the CH-46 Sea Knight and as a Reconnaissance Marine with 1st Recon Battalion.

After explaining how the MECEP program has worked for him, Travis details his time as a crew chief and door gunner. His unit was recalled from liberty ashore following Japan's most powerful earthquake ever recorded triggered a massive tsunami that destroyed entire coastal areas and triggered the meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Travis gives a first-person perspective of the American efforts during this humanitarian disaster and describes the preventative measures the military undertook to protect troops from radioactive exposure. Following the humanitarian mission, Travis applied for and was accepted to HMX-1 as part of the aircrew and he recalls the chaos surrounding moving the president during the 2012 campaign.

Next, we go over Basic Reconnaissance Course by phase with Travis recalling his time as an instructor less than two years ago. We also discuss the follow-on training like Tactical Air Control Party school, dive school, and others. We close the episode with Travis talking about his 2016 deployment with 1st Recon and how they undertook more than 30 visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) missions during anti-piracy operations off the coast of Africa.
