In the Orthodox Church we have a beautiful tradition of Churching new born babies dedicating them to God. The mother of the child is also prayed for during this service so she can enter back into the Church's communal life. Both of these actions have a strong Biblical basis. Today is the Major Feast Day" The Meeting of Our Lord" and as Symeon and the Prophetess Anna met the Lord we too can meet Him daily in our Orthodox Christian lives.
