Hello, the tradition of throwing salt over your left shoulder was to blind the devil behind you. We do not know exactly when it started nor where but if you look back to Leonardo da Vinci when he made the last supper painting, you could see Judas spilling salt and throwing salt over your shoulder counteracts that. Which places the origination of this tradition anywhere from 1/4/0033 AD to 1498 AD. Have a good night you three.
