Octubre 14: El poder de Dios en la tormenta.
Salmos 29:1-11 RVA2015:
Den al SEÑOR, oh hijos de los fuertes; den al SEÑOR la gloria y el poder. Den al SEÑOR la gloria debida a su nombre. Adoren al SEÑOR en la hermosura de la santidad. Voz del SEÑOR sobre las aguas: ¡Truena el Dios de gloria! ¡Es SEÑOR sobre las caudalosas aguas! Voz del SEÑOR con poder; voz del SEÑOR con gloria. Voz del SEÑOR que quiebra los cedros; el SEÑOR despedaza los cedros del Líbano. Los hace saltar como terneros; al Líbano y al Sirión hizo saltar como crías de toros salvajes. Voz del SEÑOR que aviva las llamas de fuego. Voz del SEÑOR que estremece al desierto. El SEÑOR estremece al desierto de Cades. La voz del SEÑOR estremece las encinas y desnuda los bosques. Y en su templo todos los suyos proclaman su gloria. El SEÑOR se sentó ante el diluvio; el SEÑOR se sentó como rey para siempre. El SEÑOR dará fortaleza a su pueblo; el SEÑOR bendecirá a su pueblo con paz.
En este salmo el salmista nos hace la invitación para que adoremos al Señor con toda nuestra alma y con toda la entrega de nuestro corazón. También nos invita a que nos deleitemos en su presencia, no con miedo o imposición forzosa sino para que lo hagamos con gusto, ¡disfrutando el adorar al Señor que es el que domina todo el universo!
El salmista hace una lista de las formas en que el Señor impone su autoridad y poderío.
En el desierto, en el fuego, en el agua, en los bosques, etc. Todos los fenómenos geológicos como temblores, inundaciones, erupciones volcánicas, tormentas, etc. Son señales del dominio del poder de Dios, trastornando al mundo con las fuerzas extraordinarias de la naturaleza.
¡El salmista veía la poderosa mano de Dios aun en la geología! Él atribuye los truenos, relámpagos y rayos al poder de Dios que golpea la tierra con tormentas. Nosotros debemos también reconocer que el Señor usa la naturaleza para demostrar su poder al ser humano que de seguido se llena de arrogancia y altivez, se llena su corazón de necedad, rechazando a Dios, pensando que con la tecnología y la ciencia pueden negar a Dios; pero luego se dan cuenta que el poder humano sigue siendo muy limitado y débil porque todavía no pueden contener la fuerza de la naturaleza cuando el Señor le permite salirse de sus límites. Ahí vemos a la humanidad clamando por misericordia a Dios y que se calme la naturaleza.
Más adelante vamos a leer más salmos donde el salmista poéticamente describe cómo Dios está detrás de la belleza de la naturaleza pero también detrás de su fuerza.

Cuando ves la fuerza de la naturaleza, ¿te ayuda a recordar sobre el poder del Creador?

October 14: The power of God in the storm.
Psalms 29:1-11:
Give unto the Lord, O you mighty ones, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over many waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars, yes, the Lord splinters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes them also skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord divides the flames of fire.
The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth, and strips the forests bare; and in His temple everyone says, “Glory!”
The Lord sat enthroned at the Flood, and the Lord sits as King forever. The Lord will give strength to His people;
the Lord will bless His people with peace.
In this psalm the psalmist invites us to worship the Lord with all our soul and with all the dedication of our heart. He also invites us to delight ourselves in His presence, not with fear or forced imposition but so that we do it with pleasure, enjoying worshiping the Lord who is the One who dominates the entire universe!
The psalmist lists the ways in which the Lord imposes His authority and might.
In the desert, in the fire, in the water, in the forests, etc. All geological phenomena such as earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, storms, etc. They are signs of the dominion of God's power, upsetting the world with the extraordinary forces of nature.
The psalmist saw the mighty hand of God even in geology! He attributes thunder, lightning, and lightning to the power of God striking the earth with storms. We must also recognize that the Lord uses nature to demonstrate His power to the human being who is often filled with arrogance and haughtiness, their heart fills with foolishness, rejecting God, thinking that with technology and science they can deny God; but then they realize that human power is still very limited and weak because they still cannot contain the force of nature when the Lord allows it to go beyond its limits. There we see humanity crying out for mercy to God and for nature to calm down.
Later we will read more psalms where the psalmist poetically describes how God is behind the beauty of nature but also behind its strength.
Consider this:
When you see the force of nature, does it help you remember about the power of the Creator?
