El anciano a la señora elegida y a sus hijos, a quienes yo amo en verdad —y no solo yo, sino también todos los que han conocido la verdad— a causa de la verdad que permanece en nosotros y que estará con nosotros para siempre: La gracia, la misericordia y la paz de parte de Dios Padre y de Jesucristo, el Hijo del Padre, estarán con nosotros en verdad y amor. Me alegré mucho al hallar de entre tus hijos a quienes andan en la verdad, conforme al mandamiento que hemos recibido del Padre. Y ahora te ruego, señora, no como si te escribiera un nuevo mandamiento sino el mismo que teníamos desde el principio: que nos amemos unos a otros. Y este es el amor: que andemos según sus mandamientos. Este es el mandamiento en que han de andar, como han oído desde el principio. Porque muchos engañadores han salido al mundo, quienes no confiesan que Jesucristo ha venido en la carne. Tal persona es el engañador y el anticristo. Miren por ustedes mismos para que no pierdan las cosas en que hemos trabajado sino que reciban abundante recompensa. Todo el que se extravía y no permanece en la doctrina de Cristo no tiene a Dios. El que permanece en la doctrina, este tiene al Padre y también al Hijo. Si alguien va a ustedes y no lleva esta doctrina, no lo reciban en casa ni le digan: “¡Bienvenido!”. Porque el que le da la bienvenida participa de sus malas obras. Aunque tengo muchas cosas que escribirles, no he querido comunicarlas por medio de papel y tinta. Más bien, espero estar con ustedes y hablar cara a cara para que nuestro gozo sea completo. Los hijos de tu hermana elegida te saludan.
El apóstol Juan escribe esta segunda carta de forma más formal como se escribían las cartas anteriormente con una introducción, el cuerpo o el propósito de la carta, y una conclusión.
Esta breve carta fue escrita con el propósito de todo apóstol, el de animar a los creyentes y darles palabras de advertencia sobre aquellos falsos maestros que estaban en la iglesia para confundir y desanimar a los creyentes y sacarlos de la verdad.
El apóstol primeramente admira a los creyentes de esta iglesia, y al parecer había una líder principal que el apóstol ha llamado la “señora”. Algunos teólogos opinan que la señora es una referencia a la iglesia, y los hijos son una referencia a los creyentes. Ya sea una analogía a la iglesia o a una persona real, esta es una carta llena de enseñanzas para afirmar la fe de los cristianos.
Primero, el apóstol elogia a los creyentes de estas congregaciones porque estaban practicando la verdad. Ellos se amaban los unos a los otros y practicaban los mandamientos del Señor. De esa manera el amor de Dios abundaba en estas congregaciones.
Quiero resaltar el verso 8 donde el apóstol advierte que hay que tomar una actitud de alerta y estar vigilantes para que nada ni nadie nos separe del amor de Dios, alejándonos de la verdad. Es necesario cuidarnos de aquellos que niegan que Jesucristo es el Salvador.
Algunos se confían porque están rodeados de una congregación bonita, porque han tenido experiencias bonitas en Dios, y porque tal vez están desarrollando un ministerio en la congregación. Todo esto es importante sin dejar de tomar una posición de alerta ante cualquier persona que venga a alejarnos de esta verdad. Que nadie te confunda, más bien afirmate en la verdad de que Jesús es el hijo de Dios, o sea la manifestación visible del Dios invisible. La manifestación humana del Dios eterno.
Si alguien llega a tu hogar diciendo que Jesús no es Dios o que Jesús no es la manifestación de Dios, entonces tienes que cerrarle la puerta para que tú y tu familia no sean confundidos.
Personalmente he visto cómo varias personas que habían tenido una relación directa con Dios, llenos del Espíritu Santo y usados poderosamente en varios ministerios terminaron negando a Jesús como Dios. Todo porque empezaron a escuchar cientos de doctrinas de hombres que sutilmente confundieron a estos cristianos y llegaron a menospreciar las Escrituras y el Espíritu Santo, negando la eficacia del poder de Dios cuando antes lo disfrutaban y lo anunciaban por todas partes.
Espero que esta carta te haya animado a afirmarte en la revelación del conocimiento de Dios y a que seas proactivo en el cuidado del tesoro eterno que Dios nos ha concedido: la vida eterna.
Considera:
¿Estoy firme en el conocimiento de Dios o necesito aprender más de la Biblia para que nadie me confunda?

2 John 1:1-13:
The Elder, to the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth, because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:
Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father. And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another. This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.
Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
The children of your elect sister greet you. Amen.
The apostle John writes this second letter in a more formal way as the letters were previously written with an introduction, the body or the purpose of the letter, and a conclusion.
This short letter was written for the purpose of every apostle, to encourage believers and give them words of warning about those false teachers that were in the church to confuse and discourage believers and lead them away from the truth.
The apostle first admires the believers in this church, and apparently there was a main leader whom the apostle has called the "lady”. Some theologians believe that the lady is a reference to the church, and the children are a reference to the believers. Whether it is an analogy to the church or a real person, this is a letter full of teachings to affirm the faith of Christians.
First, the apostle praises the believers in these congregations because they were practicing the truth. They loved one another and practiced the commandments of the Lord. In this way the love of God abounded in these congregations.
I want to highlight verse 8 where the apostle warns that we must take an alert attitude and be vigilant so that nothing and no one separates us from the love of God, distancing us from the truth. We need to beware of those who deny that Jesus Christ is the Savior.
Some trust themselves because they are surrounded by a beautiful congregation, because they have had beautiful experiences in God, and because perhaps they are developing a ministry in the congregation. All this is important while taking a position of alert to anyone who comes to distance us from this truth. Let no one confuse you, rather affirm yourself in the truth that Jesus is the son of God, that is, the visible manifestation of the invisible God. The human manifestation of the eternal God.
If someone comes to your home saying that Jesus is not God or that Jesus is not the manifestation of God, then you have to close the door so that you and your family don't get confused.
I have personally seen how various people who had had a direct relationship with God, filled with the Holy Spirit and used powerfully in various ministries ended up denying Jesus as God. All because they began to hear hundreds of doctrines from men who subtly confused these Christians and came to despise the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, denying the efficacy of the power of God when they used to enjoy it and proclaim it everywhere.
I hope this letter has encouraged you to affirm yourself in the revelation of the knowledge of God and to be proactive in caring for the eternal treasure that God has given us: eternal life.
Consider this:
Am I firm in the knowledge of God, or do I need to learn more about the Bible so that no one will confuse me?
