Listen to our third special SHEleader webinar. We meet you Rosi Grillmair, one of the innovative brave young digital media artists. The event is a bridge to the second international SHEleader@digital 2020 conference, postponed for September 17th with respect to the measures for limiting the COVID-19 outbreak.
The New Meeting Point
Digital technologies transform nearly all aspects of our life, including art and culture. Moreover, a new wave of artists has emerged and taken international attention by creating an innovative type of culture - the so-called digital art or new media art.
From creative coding and processing to real-time data visualization and algorithmic art that new meeting point allows us to see the world and our life via a different perspective: to think, to interface, to communicate with new tools. To be more human by being more digital.
Maybe, it sounded very strange yesterday, but the COVID-19 world has created a new situation where digital art is more important than ever. Because we need to understand and use the tech in a creative way and with a new perspective.
Rosi Grillmair
To be innovative is an essential part of Rosi Grillmair: an artist, creative coder, and educator working with real-time processing, digital fabrication, 3D software and data visualization by the use of community-driven tools like Processing, Arduino and vvvv/VL.
Born in 1991 Austria, Rosi has graduated Interactive Media as well as Computer Science in Linz and Multimedia Arts in Milan. A recurring theme in her works is the reflection of human behavior through programmable machines. Conceptual media art, performance, the investigation of patterns and experiments with real and virtual media come together in her work by the freedom and restriction of algorithms.
Her works were exhibited at Ars Electronica Museum and Festival/AT, TADAEX Tehran/IR, Medialab Prado/ES, Gwangju Media Arts Festival/KR, amberPlatform/TR and MKH Wels/AT.
She was invited as a lecturer to Art and Design College Pforzheim/DE, NODE Forum for Digital Art/DE, D.A.H. Project Shiraz/IR, Kepler Salon Linz/AT, Creative Coding Barcelona/ES, Digitale Welten/DE and Schmiede Hallein/AT.
Host: Irina Altanova, Program coordinator at Bulgarian Center of Women in Technology (BCWT).
