In Lesson 132 of A Course in Miracles, Jesus makes a very direct and literal statement with an exclamation point at the end: "There is no world!" (W-pI.132.6.2). He then goes on to say, "This is the central thought the course attempts to teach. Not everyone is ready to accept it, and each one must go as far as he can let himself be led along the road to truth. He will return and go still farther, or perhaps step back a while and then return again." (W-pI.132.6.3-5)

As he says there, not everyone is ready to accept this idea, but we can at least begin to live AS IF there is no world. We can do this by opening to the happy and relaxing idea that this world is just a dream. It is possible to live so intuitively, so in your heart, so in the flow of Joy that the world just begins to fade into the background. Our mind becomes riveted on Heaven, laughter replaces sorrow, and True Love is remembered at last!

At the end of this talk in New Britain, Pennsylvania, recorded on April 24th, 2015, David shares a parable about his friend Resta who at first was very unhappy with Jesus for his "there is no world" line. But after a kitchen-table conversation with David about this "as if" idea, Resta was given an inspired song by this same name (As If).

You can find Resta's original recording of this song on our Musicians Pavilion player here (about halfway down the page): http://awakening-mind.org/resources-2/music/)
