“I was a Daddy’s Girl. I’d always pictured him walking me down the aisle.”

Michelle pierces people’s body parts for a living. I gave her a Lyft to Lasater's Coffee & Tea - Riverside and then off to work. She’s a fantastic representative for No Egrets Tattoo Studio. Her personality is outstanding and it was so kind when she offered to buy me a coffee on the way.

I have no intention of ever getting anything pierced but if I did I’d go to Michelle without a second thought. She’s been at it for around six years so I’m pretty sure she’s a bad azz.

She mentioned how her father had passed away from cancer at the end of May. I’d asked how she was holding up and she said, “It eventually happens to everyone, I’m doing okay.” I’m pretty good at reading between the lines and could tell she has some hurt lingering around. I mean it’s barely been over a month so it’s totally understandable.

Her only wish is that her father could be around to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day. I had to turn away from her for a second after she said that because it got to me a little.

All I can say is this...Michelle is a 28-year-old with her whole life ahead of her. She’s already found her passion and that’s unusual for anyone, especially at her age. Every day she’ll get stronger and has the spirit to conquer any curveball life will throw her way.

I know all of that because she told me her daddy prepared her for life. The cool thing about this story... I feel like I know her dad. He is part of who she is without a doubt.

He will be there to walk her down the aisle.
