As of January 2021, there were over 1600 total reported cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, or MIS-C, and 26 pediatric deaths. Given that most cases of MIS-C occur between the ages of 1-14, and kids under 16 are not yet eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, understanding how to recognize and respond to MIS-C is something that everyone working in pediatrics needs to know. On this episode, our guidelines expert, Dr. Gabi Hester, Medical Director of Clinical Outcomes at Children's Minnesota is the guest, rather than the host, and shares with us what pediatric clinicians in various settings (clinic, ED, inpatient, ICU) need to know about MIS-C.
