Travis Shelton is the host of the Meaning Over Money podcast and a professional financial coach, helping families and small businesses do “money stuff better.” Not necessarily to have more, but to live a more meaningful life by pursuing work that matters, redefining the role money plays in their lives, and creating impact. He works with a wide range of clients from professional athletes, executives, teachers, and lawyers to business owners, all ready to redefine the role of money in their lives. Though every situation may be different, the values and principles remain consistent.

Travis is active in his local church, teaching young adult classes for financial learning and sits on the board for a handful of domestic and international organizations. Before starting his own company, Travis spent 15 years in the institutional real estate investment industry, where he managed billion-dollar portfolios of U.S. real estate investments for non-U.S. investors.

Through his life journey had two major obstacles to overcome…
The first was his company shutting down in 2008 during the Great Financial Crisis (3 days after getting engaged), forcing him to relocate in order to stay employed (which was mostly due to all the debt he had at the time). Fast forward 10 years, the obstacle of his family taking a 90% pay cut for him to pursue a different path.

Travis’ message to you is: As the host of Meaning Over Money, we talk about the importance of pursuing the meaning, not the money. My story will highlight this tension, and I think that would be my biggest takeaway. Pursuing meaning is hard, but always worth it.
