Brazos County voters will be selecting a new sheriff next year. Chris Kirk is retiring after 24 years in elected office and 40 years with the department.

Kirk hopes his successor will embrace a leadership role on the state and national level as he has done.

Kirk's retirement will include more time with his wife, five children, and 17 grandchildren.
