Industry and business evolution puts a great challenge on job seekers because of demanding needs to upgrade once's skills and job profile. If you don't keep up with your skills improvement you will be doomed to redundancy to be replaced by robots or machines.
However, in South Africa we seem to have a worst case situation were unions and the private sector have conflicting agendas to find a common solution in defeating unemployment challenges faced by the country.

It is left to every individual to find their unique alternatives to fight the odds. While competition for jobs and self employment increases everyday, it means if you don't adapt to change and find other competing skills chances of survival in into the future will be bleak for most "African Folks" who call themselves academics.
