The US military earlier announced it was sending the USS Truxtun, a navy guided-missile destroyer, to the Black Sea for what it described as a"routine" deployment that was scheduled before the crisis began.
 Crimea's parliament voted to join Russia on Thursday and its Moscow-backed government set a referendum on the decision in 10 days' time in a dramatic escalation of the crisis over the n Black Sea peninsula.
Russian officials are pushing for the International Monetary Fund to move ahead with planned reforms without the United States, which could mean the loss of the U.S. veto over major decisions at the global lender.
