It is undeniably easy to obtain a firearm in the US, either legally or otherwise. The sheer number of gun-related incidents make it folly to present a case otherwise. However, here is a clearly educated man quoting a Supreme Court decision from 117 years ago to “stand your ground” in the face of provocation. America is paying for this wild west mentality with the lives of its youth. Providing legal and routine access to the means to take another’s life, and to support the right to carry such means through statute, should be regarded as an affront to a civilised society.
