His first book, Out of Eden: An Odyssey of Ecological Invasion, was a National Book Award finalist and won the Overseas Press Club Award for environmental reporting. He was in the Northwest to speak at Town Hall Seattle, presented by Third Place Books and Town Hall as part of the Science series.
