YouTube has to be paying you to say all these nice things about them, because youtube TV in not the cheapest nor does have as many channels as Sling TV so I am calling bullshit..... I’ve used YouTube TV & I’ve used DIRECTV now & I currently use Sling TV and by far “Sling TV WINS!!!!” I‘ve been using Sling TV for over 2 Years!
I pay only $10 a month for YouTube TV. How? YouTube TV allows you to share with 5 other family or friends in family group, with 3 simultaneous streams for each. I have invited 3 friends and co-workers to join my group. $40 divided by 4 is $10. Come June each member's share Will be $12.50 with the rate hike. Still can't be beat.
Your mantra seems to be "Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity" when for cord cutters it's "Options, options, options" and "Savings, savings, savings". I mean the whole point of moving away from cable/satellite to a live streaming service is the cost savings of having more compact and flexible packages. And the farther the providers get away from the dream of a la carte, the more they become nothing but "cable light". And many are not even really that "light". For instance, YouTube TV is now $50/mo. for their one "simple" package. But you need internet for it to work. And by moving away from cable for your TV, you've lost the $20/mo bundle savings on your Internet, effectively making your net cost for moving to YouTube TV $70/mo. Doesn't sound too "light" any more does it? Seriously, Spectrum's non-promotional rates for 125 channels is $69.98. Hell, if you want simple, do that. I don't want "simple" because "simple" is "expensive". I want what live streaming was designed for, the cost savings afforded more package and channel options. And right now, the closest thing we have to that is Sling.
YouTube TV is coming to Amazon devices. Google and Amazon have patched things up and will now cross pollenate technologies on Chromecast and Fire devices. They haven't announced just when the YouTube TV app will be in the Amazon store, but it'll probably be within a month or two. For now, you can just use a sideloaded a YouTube TV app on Amazon Fire devices and it works perfect.
Youtube TV SUCKS. Low initial rates were a total bait and switch. No better than the cable providers. Sorry but a 43% price increase is too much. I’ve been with YTTV for a long time. Even suffering through your AppleTV issues but this is too much. I’ll be cancelling and switching to another provider -- even if it's more expensive.
What you failed to mention was with the increase price for YouTube TV there are added channels that come with the increase.Just when you thought cable had you held captive. Now the streaming services are holding us hostage too! I shouldn't have been surprised that my DIRECTV NOW Gotta Have It Subscription was raised $10.00, and the HBO add on was raised from $5.00 to $15.00. Oh, and the DIRECTV NOW site stipulates "Change is exciting! If you want to switch to a new package, you can’t switch back since Gotta Have It is no longer available." Sorry but that's not exciting to me. I am excited that Game of Thrones starts tonight! So, what did I do? I started a free trial with HBO NOW, and will pay $14.99 extra a month....GEEZ! Oh well, the monthly total is still cheaper than what I was paying Comcast Cable. TV junkies have to pay a price of the ransom!
