Talked with Zara, Courtney and Chelsea from Big Dog Ranch Rescue. They all volunteer with BDRR and definitely recommend it as a great way for students to meet their community service hours. They just did an open house at their new location and have several fundraisers coming up in August including a paint your pottery night at Picasso and Metaluscious concert at Boston's on the Beach. I also spoke with Jennifer from Resource Depot. Their organization focuses on reusing/repurposing items to keep them out of the landfills. They received 30,000 pounds of donations in June alone. They have a warehouse on Belvedere and folks can come purchase by the bin or via annual memberships. A lot of teachers use items for their classrooms. They have volunteer positions open for students as well and they are doing hands on programs where then teach classes using the donated items.
