Texas Republicans propose tapping the state’s Rainy Day Fund for the Border Wall. Two state lawmakers - Deer Park Rep Briscoe Cain and Fredericksburg Rep Kyle Bierdermann suggested spending $2.5 billion from the state’s rainy day fund to help pay for the wall. Both are members of the Texas Freedom Caucus. Critics of the plan say a border wall would be federal responsibility. Republicans have found their platform for 2020, and they have Democrats to thank. After the events of the past couple of weeks, GOP candidates can credibly paint Democrats as extremist on abortion, immigration, tax policy and climate change. That’s a lot to work with.
