Welcome to the weekend edition of RiversZen Today for Saturday and Sunday, December 29th and 30th, 2018

News of the day: Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you feel guilty if you fail to keep your resolve? Statistics reveal that 40% of Americans make a resolution each year; but only 46% of those individuals are still maintaining that resolution six months later. It is really just a matter of semantics; but consider setting intentions rather than making resolutions. The former is a mental suggestion of what you wish to do where the latter is closer to a line drawn in the sand. You feel much more failure if you break your resolution than if you mess up on an intention. Set yourself up for success. Make your intentions achievable and less specific. For example, don’t commit to going to yoga class every day . . . intend to spend time each day breathing, stretching and learning more about your body. That way if life throws you a curve and you don’t go to class you won’t face the guilt connected with failing on your resolution. The experience of going to class has many intangibles not available online like the synergy of the participants, comradery and the connection with being a participant in a live class where it is easier to ask questions while the thoughts are fresh. However, it is easy to log on and do a class at home where you don’t need to worry about what you are wearing, what time it is or how many people are in the room. And you can do it with your favorite trainer by checking out www.myriverszen.com. And if you have questions about the practice, we are only a text, post, email or phone call away.

If you have questions or comments to share with our group post to our Facebook Group page at RiversZen Online Community, email us at info@riverszen.com or text or call us at 503-440-3554.
