Welcome to This Edition of RiversZen Today for Tuesday, December 11th, 2018

The news of the day: Yesterday my suggestion for dealing with holiday stress included five factors . . . move, breathe, hydrate, eat and sleep . . . all necessary components to maintain your holiday stress level and none of them are expensive. Today I’m only going to concentrate on the first one. Move! What kind of motion? How often? Simple answers . . . any kind of motion, as often as possible. Just get out and move. It’s like meditation in motion. It will help you clear your mind and let those irritating issues of the day go. It will help you to stay focused. Go for a walk or run . . . maybe with a buddy. Your buddy can have four legs or two or be a group of co-workers or friends. Go to the gym or studio. Lift weights or stretch at home or at your desk. Use your treadmill or elliptical or bike or bounce on a stability ball. Play tennis or pickle ball. Garden, swim, change it up. Just identify something you will do and enjoy. Motion is key to maintaining stress. It improves your circulation, encourages breath, activates your lymphatic system, pumps up your endorphins, improves self-confidence, lowers the symptoms associated with mild depression and anxiety and all of that helps to reduce your stress.
