Welcome to This Edition of RiversZen Today for Monday, January 28th, 2019

The news of the day: The focus this week is the importance of motion. What does your daily routine look like? Do you move every day or just the days you go to the studio? Days certainly do get busy but don’t lose sight of the important stuff. Try to move every day and keep in mind that your movement doesn’t need to be over the top. It can be done throughout your day and be as simple as walking. The key is to move your body every 20 to 30 minutes. Your computer, watch or phone can actually tell you when to move. On average the typical office worker sits for more than ten hours a day at their desks, in the car, bus or train commuting, eating and watching tv or other downtown after work. Research has found that even working out before or after work may not be as effective as moving throughout your day. Working toward sitting less and less. Get creative with your non-sitting work time. Convert some of your meeting time to walking. Get up to discuss an issue rather than sending an email. If possible, pace while you are on the phone. Maybe have, stability balls, jump ropes and hula hoops around to break up the day. We all know I am a huge fan of therapy balls and the benefit of rolling throughout the day. Have fun with it. Please share with the group any activities you have found that help to break up the sitting time of your day.
