This week, we’re rejoined by our engineer Wolf and special guest Tony Kush, mental health advocate amongst black men. We discuss trauma, what it means to us and how it can affect our relationships not just romantically, but also platonically.

Tony shares the importance of therapy in the black community, especially amongst black men, and how it helps to speak to someone outside of family. Church isn’t always the answer but instead, healing generational trauma as a family unit and having those tough, honest conversations where parents put their kids “onto game” should be priority.

We get into ways that trauma shows up, how to not only deal with trauma but how to heal it as well, and not losing ourselves when in a relationship. How should one show up for a partner who may be trauma filled and not always the easiest to be with? We talk about the importance of knowing our triggers and how trauma may show up when those triggers are brought to the forefront. Bri drops a gem saying, “you aren’t triggered, your TRIGGERS are triggered!” Whew chile, there are so many gems all throughout this episode, you won’t want to miss it.

Let us know, how do you heal your trauma before, during and after a relationship?
