There are times when we know that there are communities and or people that we know we shouldn’t hang out with because they ain’t our people. This isn’t to say it’s because they are a bad person or that you no longer like them, but there are times when you notice that the people you call your people are not in alignment with you. Maybe they were before but over time things may have changed.
When you are ready to say this aloud and accept it as your truth, the scary thing is that you may lose people in your life and sometimes it’s people you’ve known your entire life. The beautiful thing about life is that there is always room to hold the people you want in your space, in your life. And who you need and want may change over time because you will change over time.
In order to know if someone is not your people, you must first know what kind of people you want in your life. If someone talks negatively about other people when they are not around, then chances are they are talking about you to others so they ain’t your people. If you are the one always reaching out or working to keep the relationship strong, then they ain’t your people. If you always feel like you need to change to be who someone wants to be or do what they want you to do, then they ain’t your people.
Knowing your people and your tribe is one of the most important things you can choose in your life. So, grab a friend and join in as we talk about these ain’t my people.
