In the first instalment of Grief Kind, Clover Stroud speaks to BAFTA-winning actress and television presenter Lisa Riley about her mum, Cath, who died in Lisa’s arms from pancreatic cancer.

Amongst anecdotes of lemon curd and Strictly Come Dancing, Lisa reveals how she coped with the death of her mum – who she describes as “the oxygen of the room” - but still misses her daily.

When it comes to grief, Lisa questions whether time is a healer and shares her insight into the best thing a friend can do to help a loved one through a bereavement.

Dear Lisa and team thank you for talking about grief. I wrote blogs as I felt so alone after I lost my dad almost 8 years ago, and yes you never get over the void. If anyone needs some solace the blogs are in my book My Dad and Me: A journey of love, loss and life. I still write in the hope like Lisa, I can reach out to others on a similar journey. My humble advice give yourself permission to grieve and don't apologise for feeling how you feel. Best wishes to you and all your listeners and huge thanks. Daxa Patel www.daxapatelmydadandme.co.uk

Thank you for this, I was crying with you. My lovely mum passed 2 years ago, one year ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer so my grieving was somehow put on hold while I dealt with the diagnosis and treatment. Can fully relate to the hair loss being so devastating. It was good to hear I'm not the only one who can't stand the 'head on one side' that accompanies the "ahh" you get from people. Now I'm through the worst of my treatment the grief for my mum has come back with a vengence and I cry so much. It's so good to hear this talked about, to know that I'm not alone in how I feel. Thank you.
