In this episode we continue studying the Book of Genesis. In this episode Joseph revealed himself to his brothers. He wept so loudly, his crying was heard throughout the palace.

His brothers were initially troubled but he assured them that all was well, he held no grudge against them. He told them not be angry with themselves for selling him, because it was God's will. God sent him to Egypt to spare their lives.

When Pharaoh and his court heared that Joseph's brothers were in Egypt they were pleased.

And suddenly they were men of renown. They were the brothers of the most influential man in Egypt.

They had done evil but they repented and were treated like they had done nothing wrong. They received honor and priviledges in Egypt directly from Pharaoh himself, because they were Jospeh's brothers.

Pharaoh told them to go home and get their father and their familes and come back to Egypt. And he would give them the good land in Egypt and they would eat the fat of the land.

He told them not to regard their stuff because he would provide for them.

Regard means to devote thought and effort to, to have pity on, or look upon with compassion, to be cautious about.

Stuff refers to their personal items, their clothing, furnishings, carriages, utensils, pots, tools, etc.

They were to leave everything they had behind, everything they had accumulated they could leave behind, he would provide everything they needed. He would give them houses and lands and everything they needed to make a home.

Pharaoh’s words points to the teachings Christ gave to his followers in the New Testament. Pharaoh said, leave all your stuff behind and COME to ME.

Jesus said, come unto me all you who labor and are heavy ladened and I will give you rest.

He said, I go to prepare a place for you, in my FATHERS house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told.

Jesus said don’t regard or worry abour food or clothing because those are the things the Gentiles worry about and seek after. The Gentiles were unbelievers, they lived to acquire things.

They lived as if life was all about things like food and clothing and the finer things in life. So he told his people, to be different.

They were not supposed to live to acquire things. They were to be mindful of the fact that there is an afterlife and they should make life choices with that in mind.

He didn't want them to be like the Gentiles who gained the treasures of the world but lost their souls.

Come to me and live, he says, come to me and be nourished and I’ll provide for you in this life and the next.

Paul said in Ephesians, chapter 4 verse 17, Don’t Walk, that is don’t live, like the Gentiles who live in the vanity of their minds.

Vanity means to be, devoid of truth or force, to be erroneous in principle.

Unbelievers and some who profess Christ live their lives based upon erroneous principles. But Paul tells, us the truth is found only in Christ.

We will be judged by His truth not our own truth or truth created by fallen mankind.

Therefore he says in Ephesians Chapter 4:

Ephesians 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Ephesians 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Ephesians 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ;

Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
