On 11 May, U.S. Senators Edward J. Markey of Massachusetts and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana introduced a bill to strengthen protections for the online collection, use and disclosure of personal information of children and minors, essentially amending and updating the provisions of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, also known as COPPA. This law may be cited as the 'Children's Online Privacy Protection Act'.
