“We're great for everybody around us. But I want us to get to a space where we are making ourselves a priority. And I realized that in my journey to wellness if my mental health isn't intact, nothing will be intact,” - Cassandre Dunbar

Welcome to Stay a While with Tommi Vincent! Face mask on? Check. Pedicure done? Check. A good glass of wine? Check. And now, let’s discuss the deeper meaning of self-care. Because, all the external pampering is wonderful, but when it wears off, do you still feel well? What tools do you have to combat mental and emotional blocks? How are you showing up for yourself when life throws you a curveball? Dr. Cassandre Dunbar, host of the Be Well, Sis podcast stops by Stay A While in this episode to get right down to the bare bones of self-care with transparent and thoughtful insight. Turn your speakers up and listen in.

Cassandre Dunbar is a woman of many hats. She’s a mother of 2 young boys, medical doctor, wife, educator, Wellness blogger, and host of the Be Well, Sis Podcast. Cassandre is incredibly passionate about the wellness and self-care practices of Black millennial women.

Shortly after graduating medical school, Cassandre became pregnant with her eldest and was made very aware of the things that she put both in and on her body. This became even more important after giving birth to a child with many sensitivities and allergies. In doing her own research, she learned that there was a large gap between what she had learned in medical school and what it truly means to be well. In her quest for knowledge, she quickly realized that we are often underrepresented or alienated in Wellness spaces although we often also suffer the worst medical outcomes compared to our peers. Cassandre has become dedicated to providing relevant resources that resonate with those of us who feel forgotten.
