One day, the idea struck me that Edison's rumored spirit phone would make a good premise for a novel, so I wrote it: The Spirit Phone (BHC Press, 2022). It's set in New York in 1899. Edison has begun marketing the spirit phone as a consumer item, with disastrous results.
