Please join me for the seventh episode of Conversations with Alan where I will share my father's story of survival during the Holocaust in The Locher Room on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 (Liberation Day). The truth about the Holocaust is that I am lucky to be alive. My life story could have turned out so differently if not for some very brave men and women who risked their lives and the lives of their families to save both my mother and my father when the Nazi's began rounding up Jews in Holland during World War II.

Tonight, I will share my father’s personal story which I didn't know much about. All I knew up was what my father shared in his interview with the SHOAH Foundation back in 1996. Tonight, you will hear some of that interview from my father - in his own words. 61 years after the war ended we received a phone call from Johan DeBoer and learned that Johan’s family gave refuge to my grandparents risking all of their lives. The DeBoer's family were also responsible for reuniting my father with his parents when he arrived by train through the underground. Johan called our home in 2006 to tell us about the story his family had written about my family's experience during WWII and to share that story with all of us. You will hear some of that story in this episode.
