Football commentator and podcaster Matt Davies-Adams joins me to discuss his two lines of work. We discuss the art of commentary and Matt shares why, in special situations, saying nothing and letting the crowd noise do the talking is better than trying to match such raw emotion. He reveals who he preferred in the long-running rivalry between Barry Davies and John Motson and tells me about the best moment he has commentated on, which was produced by a player who he says is the best he has seen live for a sustained period of time. As a result of COVID-19, Matt explains how the day-to-day of his life has changed drastically as he balances being a father with recording podcasts remotely, and why having live football to commentate on again soon would provide an immense sense of relief.
