Congress Approves Funds For More Immigration Judges

The coronavirus pandemic is adding to a huge backlog in asylum cases involving illegal immigrants at the southern border. The latest appropriations bill passed by Congress includes funding for 100 new immigration judges. Texas Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar [[ KWAY-yar ]] says the influx of new judges means immigrants who don't meet the requirements can be deported more quickly. There's a backlog of more than a million asylum cases, nearly 200-thousand of which are in Texas.
