Alaska, the Last Frontier: It is a place of stunning beauty and rugged wilderness. It is an outdoorsman’s paradise with plenty of big game to hunt and fish to catch. It is also a place where people disappear--some because they want to drop out of the fast-paced rat race and some not by choice. On April 29, 1984, Roger Culp went missing from Hopkinsville. Roger was last seen in the company of a newcomer to the area, a 25-year-old man named Michael Silka. Officers head out to Michael’s remote cabin to see if they can question him about Roger. As soon as they arrive, they notice what looks to be blood outside the cabin. As they approach the door, a man comes out and identifies himself as Michael Silka. He tells the troopers that the blood was from a moose he recently killed and was outside to skin the animal. Michael tells them he hasn’t seen Roger since Roger came by for a quick visit. Content with the explanation, officers leave the cabin. This was a mistake, and many would lose their lives at one man’s hand.

OK here we go

I went to high school with Mike, in study hall, we were seated by last makes so he sat right behind me. He was one scary weird dude. I was 16 and he scared me all the time. However, it's a great story and I use it a lot, I tell people to google Mike Silka and tell my story of the spree killer in my same study hall and how this kid had a 1000 mile stare when you talked to him. I feel bad for all the families but this dude needed serious help and the system failed them, that was 1977. I have two stories from Hoffman Estates High School, Walter Payton serving as assistant basketball coach and Mike Silka.
