It is September 24, 2015, when David Phillips who goes by the name Tray failed to show up to work. The 26-year-old worked on a boat and was a dependable employee who would always show up for work so when he didn’t call, his boss called his grandfather to see if perhaps Tray decided to take the day off or was sick. The grandfather said he would drive over to check on Tray. As the grandfather was approaching the house, he could see a police car and a man lying on the ground in front of his house on Swan Lake Drive. The man would turn out to be Tray Phillips.

I am Tray's mother and I just listened to your show. Thank you so much for sharing this and there are so many things that we fought for to have Justice for my son but the Prosecutor had been married to Heather's cousin so he was working to keep them out of prison, I now have discovered that most of the evidence was never tested and besides being beaten my son was shot in the head but the Coroner nor Pathologist even did an xray on my son, I found out thru the Missouri state highway patrol website. I would so much appreciate it if you could keep telling my son's story, it's also on Investigation Discovery Murder in the Heartland season 2 episode 1. Thank you ladies so much, it'll be 7 years Saturday and I need Justice for my son and for Noah
Tray was my cousin. Thank you for sharing his story! Heather and her family and Bert all got off WAY TOO EASY! His mother never wanted them to have plea deals, but due to there being a connection between their family and some of the legal people involved... well, you see what happened.
