The Power of Practice and Networking with Rich Marks
This week’s episode features Arizona based muralist, Rich Marks. I met Rich through this month’s January Paint Challenge: 31 paintings in 31 days. Rich had heard about the challenge and started tagging me in his daily posts and it didn’t take long for me to notice what an experienced painter he was. There were so many days that I saw his work and would show my fiancé Ryan like, “Look at this guy who’s participating in the challenge! He’s so good!” So not long ago I messaged him and asked, “Hey, have you ever thought about teaching?” and long story short he’s going to be a contributor to the Artist Academy very soon which I am soooo excited about! Also I want to mention that I did not know that Rich and I had worked for the same company only on different locations at one point until he mentioned it mid interview. You can hear the shock in my voice when I realized that this art world is actually so small. Rich is full of helpful tips for aspiring and advanced artists but my favorite quote from him during this interview is, “You cannot network enough.” Ugh! So true!
