We're kicking off 2019 (late) with our first double-feature episode! First up: 1975's Pick-Up looks like another grindhouse flick on the surface, but is almost nothing like what you'd expect it to be. It's visually stunning, genuinely terrifying in some parts, and even thought-provoking in its own weird way. It must be seen to be believed. Whatever one might think of this movie, it's hard to deny that there was a lot more on the filmmakers' minds than simply pumping out a cash-grab exploitation flick. If you want to experience the movie for yourself, it's on Youtube for free. After that, we dive into 1987's Blood Sisters, infamous sleaze queen Roberta Findlay's belated answer to the at-the-time declining '80s slasher craze. Is it a worthy entry into the genre that stands up among the ranks of Halloween and A Nightmare On Elm Street? Is it a so-bad-it's-good cheesefest? Is it neither of those things? Listen to our discussion to find out! You can also watch this one on Youtube, should you feel so inclined. Hear what Terry and John have to say about these two gems on this, the (belated) season two premiere of THE DEAD END STREET PODCAST.
