The Lord sent his only Son to carry the weight of all sin, past, present and future and to die as payment for the sins we can never pay. In that, Jesus ended death for those who commit to him and abide in him.

16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
