    20 JUL 2023 · On March 29th, 2023, Ryan was honored to be invited to come speak to the University of Minnesota Pre-PA Organization about his medical journey as well as share with its UMN Pre-PA members any experiential knowledge that he had acquired along the way. With this opportunity, Ryan was excited to unveil some of his favorite self-created pre-health tools and acronyms that allowed him to succeed in his journey: The Door vs. Key Analogy, The SCHOOL Acronym, and the 4 “If I’s”. In order, these 3 tools were designed to help pre-health students approach the application process with the correct mindset, avoid common pitfalls, and confirm that each student is actually improving their application and acceptance chances each and every cycle. Now, thanks to the UMN Pre-PA Organization and the efforts of this podcast, you can listen in with the attendees of this meeting. While the content of this lecture was designed for Pre-PA students, these tools can be utilized in every single pre-health application process. While Ryan of the BackyardBoys has a deep passion for video production, his career interest is actually focused around medicine. Ryan currently studies at Augsburg University in Minnesota with the hopes of obtaining his Master's In Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) by September of 2024. While on his own non-traditional pre-health journey, Ryan developed a passion for helping pre-health students discover which medical careers are available to them as well as provide them with the resources they need to succeed within the career they have chosen all while tackling the mental health crisis that exists within the pre-health world. Now, with the support of the BackyardBoys as well as through a partnership with the University of Minnesota Emergency Medical Services (UMEMS) and co-hosts Kaydi and Katherine, Ryan is creating a platform of support for the pre-health community through the Vitally Stable Podcast.
